Data boxes
The Kasperson Research Library has a unique collection of approximately 370 "data boxes" on
over 175 subjects related to environmental hazards, sustainable development and human dimensions of global environmental change. These data boxes contain
materials and resources from diverse sources about issues related to the topic of the box.
This material may be full-text, such as a newspaper article, or it may be a
reference to material housed within the Kasperson collection, such as the Table
of Contents of a book.
The air pollution data box, for example, includes folders on clean air acts and bills, EPA regulations and amendments, air pollution in different countries, ozone and smog, and health effects from pollution. The data box on plant and animal wildlife includes folders on endangered species, international trade, animal rights, the spotted owl controversy, wolves, and animals that are not endangered, among others.
These data boxes are an invaluable resource to faculty researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates undertaking research or projects, theses and dissertations, and course-related research papers. The boxes are regularly updated and supplemented as new materials become available.
