Former 'Crossfire' host to speak at Clark April 25

Election strategist Paul Begala will talk about 'Politics in America Today'

Worcester, Mass. - Political consultant, commentator, former host of CNN's Crossfire, best selling author and advisor to President Bill Clinton, Paul Begala will present "Politics in America Today: Too Important to be Left to the Politicians," from 6 p.m. to 7:30, Tuesday April 25, in the Daniels Theater, Atwood Hall, Clark University.

This lecture, sponsored by the Speaker's Forum at Clark, is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.

Begala gained national prominence when his consulting firm Begala and Carville planned the election strategies that helped elect President Clinton. He then served as counselor to President Clinton where he helped define and defend the administration's agenda, from the State of the Union Address to the economic, domestic and international issues the White House faces each day. Begala was also involved in strategizing election victories for Governors Zell Miller and Robert Casey and Senators Frank Lautenberg and Harris Wofford.

Begala helped his friend John F. Kennedy Jr. launch the political magazine George and wrote the "Capitol Hillbilly" column. He has also written for Esquire magazine and The Washington Monthly, and is the author of The New York Times best-selling books Is Our Children Learning? The Case Against George W. Bush and Buck Up, Suck Up, and Come Back When You Foul Up. He released a new book titled Take It Back: Our Party, Our Country, Our Future in January 2006.

Begala is also a research professor at Georgetown University's Public Policy Institute. Begala received his B.A. in Government and his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was student body president.
