Free events include conference, reception, performance

WORCESTER, MA--The Women’s Studies Program at Clark University invites the public to a series of free events on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17, to explore the changing context of Women and Gender in the Twenty-First Century. This conference celebrates 20 years of scholarship and activism on Gender and Women’s Studies at Clark. The academic conference (Friday 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Higgins University Center) will include invited speakers, faculty, students and alumnae panelists on topics ranging from race and ethnicity to motherhood, militarism and masculinity. The Clark Counterpoints singing group will open a reception and refreshments after the conference on Friday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Traina Center for the Arts on Downing Street. A dynamic performance of "That Takes Ovaries: Leading a Bold Life,” will begin at 7 p.m. It is described by creator Rivka Solomon as “a book, a play, an open mike movement.”
