Clark Students Present Fall Theater Production, ‘Fool for Love’

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark University students will perform “ Fool For Love,” Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 9 - 12 and Nov. 16-19. All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Clark’s Little Center Theater. Admission is $5; free with a current Clark ID.. The play, one of Sam Shepard’s best known, is set in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert. The central characters, May and Eddie, struggle throughout the play with their on-again, off-again love affair. They are egged on by the haunting presence of The Old Man, whose connection with each of them is gradually revealed. The fourth character, Martin, acts as a foil for both the humor and tragedy of the various truths that are unveiled throughout the play. In “Fool for Love,” Shepard continues his exploration of the mythic American West and its extrapolation to contemporary environments and relationships.

Clark sophomore Charles P. Gould, of Santa Monica, CA, plays Eddie; sophomore Terri I. Deletesky, of Brookline, plays May; Jordan J. Corson, of Phoenixville, PA, plays Martin; Jim Snyder-Grant, of Acton, plays the Old Man. Andrea Southwick, of Acton, will direct the play.

This performance is co-sponsored by the Theater Arts Program at Clark University and ClarkArts. For more information or to make reservations, please call 508-793-7356, or e-mail clarkarts@clarku.edu.
