Clark promotes Jack Foley to Vice President for Government and Community Affairs and Campus Services

WORCESTER, MA - Clark University has promoted Jack L. Foley to Vice President for Government and Community Affairs and Campus Services.

In his new capacity, Foley will add responsibility for the Higgins University Center and the Office of Special Events to his current work in government and community relations for Clark.

Foley has served as Executive Assistant to the President at Clark since 1994. Before that, he served as business manager and director of community relations. His expanded position will support the University’s commitments to maintain the vitality of student community engagement and to upgrade extracurricular activities on campus, Clark President John Bassett said.

In 1999, Foley was elected to the Worcester School Committee.

Foley is a longtime champion of the Worcester community and has worked tirelessly in developing the University Park Partnership (UPP). The UPP is a nationally recognized partnership between Clark University and the Main South Community Development Corporation that has revitalized the Main South neighborhood of the city and brought new opportunities to families and businesses in that area. He currently serves as treasurer and Board member for the Main South CDC and has spoken widely on university-community collaborations. Foley helped plan the University Park Campus School, a Worcester public secondary school, formed in partnership between the Worcester Public Schools and Clark University that opened in 1997 and has received national acclaim for its success.

Foley has also been directly involved in the creation of the Worcester UniverCity Partnership that was formed in December 2004 to bring together higher education, city government, the community, and the Worcester business community to promote economic development and strategic partnerships in the city. He was appointed as Clark’s liaison to the Partnership in December.

Foley is currently serving on the boards of the Seven Hills Foundation, the YMCA of Greater Worcester, the Worcester Community Action Council, the Webster Square Business Association, and the Dartmouth College Alumni Association of Central Massachusetts.

Foley was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn. He resides in Worcester with his wife, Robin, and children, Brian, Lindsay, and Mara. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1975.
