Mickey Cahoon enters his second season as head coach of the Clark University men’s tennis team. Originally from Bourne, Mass., Cahoon joins the Cougars after a 10-year career at the middle- and high school level.
Cahoon served as head coach of the varsity boy’s tennis team at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School (1998-2004), where he was named Cape Cod Times Boy’s Tennis Coach of the Year in 2003. He also guided the squad to a pair of league championships (2003-04) and five Division I South Sectional Quarterfinals (2000-2004).
A former tennis standout at Bourne High School, Cahoon earned boy’s tennis Most Valuable Player honors four consecutive years before moving on to successful careers at Worcester State College (1993-94) and Bridgewater State College (1999-2000).
Currently, he has also works as a resident tennis professional at the Weston Racquet Club.
Cahoon also serves as Clark’s head women’s volleyball coach. Prior to Clark, he spent three seasons as head varsity volleyball coach at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, Mass. Cahoon led NDA to a 50-17 overall record and a pair of consecutive trips to the Division II South Sectional Tournament, including a championship appearance in 2006.
Prior to Notre Dame, Cahoon also assisted 10-time State Championship head coach Tom Turco at Barnstable High School. Under Turco’s tutelage, Cahoon helped guide the Red Raiders to the 2003 Division I State Title.
Cahoon, who earned a bachelor’s from Bridgewater State College and a master’s degree in counseling at Boston University, continues to play in the Open Division of the AVP Next Beach Volleyball Series.
He will reside in South Boston with his wife, Jennifer.
