head coach David Kulik Coach Kulik will enter his ninth season as head coach of the Cougars. Kulik’s squad has experienced both regional and national acclaim throughout his tenure. In 2006, the team was ranked 20th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and eighth by D3kicks.com, and had been in the top-10 regional poll for 17 consecutive weeks over the 2005 and 2006 competitive seasons. In addition, the 2005 NEWMAC Coach of the Year led the Cougars to 15 wins that year– the second most in the program’s 86-year history.

The 2008 season marks Kulik's 17th year as a college coach, including assistant positions at Tufts University, Boston College and Yale University. At the high school level, Kulik was soccer director at St. John’s School in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a coach at Central High in San Angelo, Tex. He was named Region 7 Texas High School Coach of the Year, after leading Central to a school-record 18 wins.

Over the past 10 years, Kulik has coached premier club teams in Massachusetts (including the prestigious FC Greater Boston and Inter SC of Boston), guiding seven to state finals with two competing at regionals. He is the college coordinator for the Inter club and coaches boy’s U-17. In the spring of 2006 and 2007, Kulik led the U-17 Inter team and the U-18 squad to a pair of consecutive undefeated MAPLE Championships.

As a player, Kulik was an NSCAA All-American at West Springfield High School in Massachusetts. At Yale, he was selected to All-Ivy and All-New England teams for four straight years. His senior year, Kulik captained the Yale Bulldogs, was part of Yale’s 4-1 victory over defending national champions UCLA, and was third in Ivy Player of the Year voting. After graduating, Kulik played for the American Professional Soccer League’s Boston Bolts (1988-89) and the Miami Freedom (1990).

Kulik’s credentials include a U.S.S.F. “A” license and the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

Kulik, who earned a B.A. in sociology from Yale and a master’s in psychology from Tufts, is also the Associate Athletic Director at Clark. This year he will begin a four-year term on the NCAA Division III men’s soccer committee and will also serve as the New England Regional Representative for the advisor board of the men’s soccer NCAA Tournament.

Kulik resides in Newton with his wife Alison, the women's soccer coach at Boston College, and daughter Sidnie.
