Dear Member of the Class of 2008:
Think back…
- Did you have a high school teacher worthy of the title "outstanding?"
- Was this teacher a mentor as well as an academic educator?
- Did this teacher contribute to your personal growth as well as your academic growth?
Now you have the opportunity to say "thank you" by nominating this outstanding individual for the Clark University Alumni Association's Outstanding Secondary Educator Award.
Your participation is essential to this award program because only seniors make the nomination. Our purpose is to recognize a secondary school educator who, in your opinion, best prepared you for Clark and your future work. From your nomination, our Outstanding Secondary Educator Award Committee of the Alumni Association will evaluate the nominations and select an academic teacher to receive this special honor. We encourage everyone to nominate that special educator, regardless of where you went to high school. Past nominations have been for educators from Georgia, California, Massachusetts, Maine, Japan and Zimbabwe, to name a few.
The outstanding educator selected for the award is honored during Commencement/Reunion Weekend (May
16-18). The recipient attends the Honorary Degrees Dinner at President Bassett's home, is given a personalized plaque at the Honors Convocation by the Alumni Association President and attends the Graduation Platform Party Luncheon with the senior nominator and his/her family. In addition, a plaque honoring the educator is presented to his/her school, with the nominator (now Clark alumnus/a) on hand during high school graduation ceremonies if the school so wishes. All nominees and their schools receive frameable certificates indicating they have been recognized as outstanding educators.
We encourage you to nominate your outstanding high school educator via the attached form or online at www.clarku.edu/alumni/forms/osea.cfm. Submit your nomination to the Alumni Affairs Office by
Tuesday, March25, 2008. Please indicate which time on Sunday, March 30 is best for you to come to the Alumni House for an informal interview about your teacher .
If you have any questions, please contact Garrett Abrahamson or LaDona Lanphere in the Alumni Affairs Office by phone, 793-7166 or e-mail,
gabrahamson@clarku.edu or llanphere@clarku.edu.
Sincerely yours,
Aixa Kidd
Director of Alumni Affairs
